Power level your pet in 8 battles!

Souglyy, our guild power pet leveller, let me in on her 8 battles to level a pet from 1 to 25.  This does assume that you have a large repertoire of pets to choose from already.  You can substitute pets as you wish instead of her choices but the nuts and bolts of it are here.  Good luck!

  1. Pick your pet.
  2. Wear your Safari Hat.
  3. Buddy the baby pet with Eternal Strider and Clockwork gnome and go to Winterspring and battle Stone Cold Trixxy. (1725xp - would be more if I remembered step 2)
  4. Using the same team, battle Lydia Accoste in Deadwind Pass. (2244xp)
  5. Using the same team, battle Bloodknight Antari in Shadowmoon valley (2970xp)
  6. Using the same team, battle farmer Nishi in Valley of the Four Winds. (5060xp)
  7. Swapping the Eternal Strider for an Amber Moth, battle Mo'ruk in Krasarang Wilds (4455xp)
  8. Using the same team, battle Hyuna of the Shrines, Jade Forest (3713xp)
  9. Swapping to Kun-Lai Runt and Eternal Strider Townlong Steppes (3080xp)
  10. Swapping the Kun-Lai Runt for Darkmoon Zeppelin, battle Wastewalker Shu in Dread Wastes.
  11. DING!
Navi's notes:
I don't have a Kun-Lai Runt at 25 so I used my Flayer Youngling instead.  I also don't have a Darkmoon Zeppelin, so I used my Fluxfire Feline.

While I was flying around, I thought I might as well make use of the trainers I flew past for levelling as well!  I levelled using Veluxia's combination of levelling team.

I teleported to Moonglade with my druid teleport:
  • Clockwork Gnome +  Emperor crab against Elena Flutterfly in Moonglade 1733 xp
Then I flew to Winterspring.  After I battled in Winterspring for the 8 battles, I flew to Mount Hyjal
  • Clockwork Gnome + Emperor crab against Brok in Hyjal 3036xp
I used the portal to go back to Orgrimmar, then took the portal to Blasted Lands and flew to Deadwind Pass for the 8 battles.  After that I flew back to the Dark Portal and stopped to battle in Hellfire Peninsula
  • Swapping Clockwork Gnome for Fluxfire Feline battle Nicki Tinytech Hellfire Peninsula 2252xp
I then flew down to Shadowmoon Valley for the next part of 8 battles.  Then I hearthed back to Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
  • Using same team against Thundering Pandaren Spirit 5060xp (OMG Veluxia's combo works!)
Then down to Valley of the Four Winds for more 8 battles.  After that I started running out of easy tamers to battle.  I tried the other Elemental Tamers but couldn't get a good double levelling combo for it.

Good luck, and I hope Souglyy's pet levelling steps help you to get all your pets to 25 :D

  4. FYI there is an addon whose name I can't remember atm (it has something to do with safari hat in its name) that automatically equips your safari hat when you enter a pet battle and removes it when the fight is over.

Great tips, I hadn't thought of going back to the non-Pandaland trainers for power leveling. If you have him Lil' XT is pretty good for this too, his ground pound/heal combo is nice for softening up a whole team at once, especially if there are beasts.

  7. This is very handy, thanks. I've been levling a single low level pet (from around level 10) with 2 25's in Pandaria which works well but is no-where near as speedy as this 8 battle technique. I'll certainly be trying it out!

  9. nicely laid out methodology. looks very solid.

couple additional ideas, to streamline the process: to the extent it's convenient, park an alt at each of the tamers. it's faster to toon hop than to travel from npc to npc. also, i use the add-on "petbattle teams" to pre-define teams for each tamer. the latest version allows you to name your teams, which makes it very convenient. as soon as the current baby dings 25, i pick the next baby and put it into the first slot of each of the teams.

    1. Love that alts thing. Would work well for people with alts! LMAO!! Probably not work that great for me. I also have petbattle teams set up for the Pandarian trainers, it's really good for the dailies. I haven't got the latest version - naming teams would be super useful.

  10. I went and did some of these same battles tonight and got much lower experience numbers (Winterspring was like 500) but overall the method is great for powerleveling.

    1. Hey, thanks for dropping by! Glad it was somewhat helpful - I was thinking some of the reasons it may not have gotten as much xp could be because of the level of your levelling pet and the quality. I THINK (but not 100% sure) that rare quality pets gain xp faster. Though I will test that today when I try the 8battles - I'll try it on a green.

    2. I tried it with a grey pet and got the same xp. So perhaps you were not using a level 1 pet as I was, but that shouldn't matter, as it will all catch up by the end.

    3. The pet I was using at the time was blue 22 and even got one of the kills. I'll go back and try it with a level 1 and see what happens.

    4. Ok I did it again with the same setup you used and got 1898 exp for a level 1 pet which makes sense given that you forgot your hat. I must have gotten less because my pet was higher level than the trainer's pets (which now that I think about it... duh).

    5. LOL well at least we found the answer :)

  11. The baby has to be in the first slot and stay in for at least one round to gain any XP correct? I was under the impression the amount of XP was based on how my enemy pets they fought for at least one round?

    1. I had the baby take the first hit one time and then swap out, then another time I put the mob to sleep, brought the baby out to hit it, then swapped it out. Since patch, all XP goes to the baby. So the baby can come out at any time, as long as it either takes on hit, or has a turn at trying to hit (because it will most likely miss anyway). The toughest one of course is the first battle, because your baby will be level 1 and might get one hit by one of the trainers. And aoe attacks are bad too for babies LOL!

    2. Excellent! Thank you for clearing that up for me. That is what I thought. Though, all of the XP going to the baby confused me at first, because I was thinking of my pets now - and yours are Level 25. So it all makes sense now. Thanks for some more leveling ideas, Navi! <3
